Dr. Carla StokesOn behalf of Helping Our Teen Girls In Real Life Situations, Inc. (HOTGIRLS)®, I would like to welcome you to our web site. HOTGIRLS is a volunteer-led, 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization devoted to improving the health and lives of black young women and girls by providing health education, youth development, media literacy, and technology programming. Please take a look around our web site to learn more about HOTGIRLS.

Keep an eye out for the launch of our upcoming social networking web site for HOTGIRLS allies and concerned adults and the new and improved FIREGRL.com (for teen girls)!

The HOTGIRLS FIREGRL Club program at the Intel ® Computer Clubhouse at the John H. Harland Boys & Girls Club in Southwest Atlanta, received the Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s 2007 Georgia Area Council State Program Award for excellence in Health & Life Skills programming. The program also received a 2007 Honor Award for Program Excellence in recognition of our exemplary work in metropolitan Atlanta.

HOTGIRLS is Committed to Challenging Violence Against Women and Girls

In partnership with the John H. Harland Boys & Girls Club, the HOTGIRLS Young Women's Leadership Council and FIREGRL Club members are developing educational materials to raise awareness about street harassment and gender-based violence. The FIREGRL Club developed a poster that will be disseminated in all of the Boys & Girls Clubs in metro Atlanta.

Hip Hop: Beyond Beats & Rhymes

HOTGIRLS is the Atlanta local community partner with Firelight Media and God Bless the Child Productions, Inc. in a year-long effort to use the Hip Hop: Beyond Beats & Rhymes film by Byron Hurt as a tool to help young people think critically about the increasingly violent and sexual imagery in commercial hip-hop, and American culture.

Study Finds Black Teen Girls Use Internet Home Pages to Construct Identity and Respond to Sexual Media Messages

HOTGIRLS President/CEO & Founder, Dr. Carla Stokes published a study in the March-April 2007 issue of Culture, Health & Sexuality on the ways in which black adolescent girls residing in southern states with the highest rates of HIV/AIDS use multimedia technologies and hip hop culture to construct identity and respond to sexual media messages.
