Dr. Carla StokesGREETINGS FROM OUR FOUNDER

Dear HOTGIRLS Friends & Supporters,

Helping Our Teen Girls In Real Life Situations, Inc. (HOTGIRLS)® provides health and media education and leadership development programs for youth—especially young women and girls who reside in economically disadvantaged and medically underserved communities.

Despite our limited resources in this challenging economy, we have worked diligently to address health disparities, HIV/AIDS, violence against women and girls, and other important health and social justice issues that disproportionately impact women and youth of color. However we need your help to continue this work.

In response to requests to share our girl empowerment work with a larger audience, we are working to harness the power of the Web to expand our ability to reach young women and girls and their advocates around the world. However, our work is only possible with your financial support.

I urge you to support HOTGIRLS by giving whatever you can so that we can continue to help the next generation of women and girl leaders reach their full potential.  HOTGIRLS depends on supporters like you, and your tax-deductible contribution will make a tremendous difference in the lives of youth.

Can we count on you to help us raise essential funds to support our invaluable work?

Please take a look around our web site to learn more about our work and sign up for our email newsletter for exciting updates. You can help us raise awareness about our cause by following us on Facebook and Twitter and spreading the word about HOTGIRLS among your family, friends, and colleagues and encouraing them to consider making a donation to help support our important work. I thank you in advance for your generous support.

With gratitude,

Dr. Carla Stokes

DianaDr. Carla Stokes published a book chapter in Girl Wide Web 2.0: Revisiting Girls, the Internet, and the Negotiation of Identity on the ways in which Black adolescent girls residing in southern states with the highest rates of HIV/AIDS use social netorking technologies and hip hop culture to construct identity and respond to sexual media messages. Hip Hop: Beyond Beats & Rhymes

HOTGIRLS was the Atlanta community partner with Firelight Media and God Bless the Child Productions, Inc. in an effort to use the Hip Hop: Beyond Beats & Rhymes film by Byron Hurt as a tool to help young people think critically about the increasingly violent and sexual imagery in commercial hip-hop, and American culture.
